Philip, head of family law is based in the firm’s Oxford office. He trained with the firm, qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and became a partner in 1995. He has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of family law, acting for both married and unmarried clients. Although his clients are based predominantly in Oxford and London, Philip acts for clients all over the country and frequently abroad. Most of his clients are referred to him by existing clients and other professionals. He has developed a niche practice in acting for wives and/or partners of well-known celebrities when discretion and privacy are paramount.

Philip also deals with contentious private client matters such as disputes relating to wills and the way in which estates or trusts are being administered.

  • Acted for a multi-millionaire husband in a case where the issues included post-separation assets, complicated off-shore trusts and tax implications.
  • Acted for a number of clients in relation to international relocation cases involving applications to remove children on a permanent basis to Europe as well as other continents including the USA and Africa.
  • Acted for a wife in a case involving an entrepreneurial husband who had interests in extremely complicated “start up” companies and trust structures.
  • Acted for a husband in financial remedy proceedings ancillary to divorce to preserve his family business of 35 years.
  • Acted in a financial case for a husband involving assets and court proceedings in London, elsewhere in Europe and the USA.
  • Settled a claim on behalf of an adult who had been excluded from a parent’s will.
  • Acted for a family member who made a claim for “reasonable financial provision” on the basis that he had not received a fair share of the estate of the deceased.

Personal interests:

Philip has two sons aged 14 and 12. Philip’s main interests outside of work are sport which includes golf, cricket and rugby.
