David qualified as a solicitor in 1990, has been a partner in Bower Bailey for over 20 years and is the partner in charge of the Oxford office. Since June 2023 he is also the firm’s Managing partner. David specialises in clinical negligence claims for clients who have suffered injury arising out of medical treatment: this includes claims against GPs and hospital trusts. He undertakes all types of clinical negligence work and has particular expertise in the practice of coroners’ courts.

David is accredited by the Law Society on its specialist clinical negligence panel. He is a contributor to one of the main text books and publications on clinical negligence. He set up the Oxfordshire Acquired Brain Inquiry Forum, an organisation that provides advice and assistance to those affected by brain injury.

Recent work:

  • Acted in a clinical negligence claim for a client who underwent a kidney transplant. The donor kidney was infected and this caused the client to develop sever complications. The case settled 6 weeks before trial and the client avoided the stress and uncertainty of court proceedings.
  • Acted for a client in a clinical negligence claim against a hospital trust. The client had been admitted with a splenic infarction and was diagnosed without review or commencement of anticoagulation medicine. As a result she suffered a stroke. The case settled shortly before trial for substantial damages.

Outside work, when not acting a taxi service for his 3 children, David enjoys playing and watching sport.
